AI Chat Assistant
The AI Chat assistant is a conversational interface built into the extension. You can ask questions, get documentation help, and generate notes through a back-and-forth conversation.
How to Use AI Chat
- Click the Chat tab in the extension.
- Type your question or request and press send.
You can ask about any of your patients by name (for example, “What did I write for Craig last visit?”) and the assistant pulls up that patient’s eval summary and note history on its own. You do not need to open or select a patient first. The assistant refers to patients by name only.
What You Can Do with AI Chat
- Ask clinical documentation questions. For example, “How should I document a plateau in progress?” or “What functional goals would be appropriate for this patient?”
- Generate notes conversationally. Describe the visit in your own words and ask the AI to turn it into a SOAP note or specific sections.
- Refine output through follow-up. If the AI’s first response is not quite right, tell it what to change. The conversation context carries forward.
- Get help with the extension. Ask how features work, where to find settings, or how to troubleshoot common issues. The AI has a built-in knowledge base about SOAP Note Buddy.
Support Escalation
If the AI cannot resolve your issue, it can escalate your question to the human support team. You will receive a follow-up response via email.
Custom Instructions for AI Chat
You can set custom instructions that apply specifically to AI Chat conversations. Go to Settings > Custom Instructions > AI Chat to configure them. These instructions shape how the AI responds in chat without affecting Auto Fill or AI Note output. See Custom Instructions for more details.
